The Dragino MDS200-LS LoRaWAN® Microwave Radar Sensor is a solar-powered industrial distance measurement device designed for long-term outdoor IoT deployments. The MDS200-LS uses 24GHz FMCW microwave radar technology to detect distance accurately even in harsh environmental conditions. Compared to ultrasonic or LiDAR sensors, microwave radar is significantly more reliable in condensation, humidity, and dusty environments. It continues to measure correctly even when water droplets or thick dust accumulate on the sensor surface.

One of the key advantages of the MDS200 series is its dual-distance detection capability — it can measure both the closest object and the next object behind it. This makes it ideal for layered detection scenarios such as tank level monitoring, obstacle detection, and parking systems.

The integrated alarm feature allows users to configure threshold limits. When the measured distance moves outside the defined range, the device automatically switches to shorter uplink intervals for faster reporting and real-time alerts.

The MDS200-LS variant includes an integrated solar panel with a 3000mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery, enabling long-term autonomous operation with minimal maintenance.
